Building Embeddings for SNOMED CT
Vector Search and Semantic Modelling
In this series, we describe how to build a vector search model designed for SNOMED CT. Such a model allows both direct search for medical terms and indirect semantic matching, helping to translate informal or non standard expressions into official terminology.
You can follow the series as a tutorial for building your own model or use the provided scripts directly. We are ready to assist or adapt the workflow to your needs. Contact us for support.
Series Overview
- Preface and Introduction
- Part 1 — Data Export and Preparation
- Part 2 — Loading SNOMED CT Tables in Pandas
- Part 3 — Building the Concept Graph
- Part 4 — Computing Graph Embeddings
- Part 5 — Term and Synonym Embeddings
- Part 6 — Integration and Evaluation (Optional)
The parts above are currently inactive while we finalize the content. Preface is available now. Each part will be published here on a weekly schedule.
Project Overview
We are building a semantic layer and vector search for SNOMED CT using open tools and Oracle 23ai. The goal is to make clinical semantics accessible for research and practical applications.
